Passion sends “Skin Wars” to the UK, France

The UK's truTV and France's Teva have acquired the Rebecca Romijn-hosted body art competition series (pictured) from Passion Distribution.

The body art competition series Skin Wars(pictured) is headed to the UK and France.

Passion Distribution has sold all episodes of the 19 x 60-minute series to the UK’s truTV, which recently picked up RuPaul’s Drag Race. It will premiere on Wednesday (July 22) at 10 p.m. GMT.

Meanwhile, M6-owned digital cable net Teva has picked up the series in France and will begin airing it later this year.

The truTV deal was negotiated by Passion Distribution’s global head of sales, Elin Thomas, and Turner Broadcasting’s acquisitions manager, Sabina McNally.

Originally produced by Michael Levitt Productions for U.S. cable network GSN, Skin Wars is hosted by Rebecca Romijn and features judges RuPaul and body painting experts Craig Tracy and Robin Slonina.

The hour-long, skill-based competition series finds America’s most accomplished body painters going up against each other in various challenges, with a painter eliminated each week.  The second season of Skin Wars began airing on GSN last month.

Other networks to pick up the series include Thailand’s TrueVisions, Africa’s Sony Max and Canada’s Bell Media.
