Laguna Beach producer Gary Auerbach (pictured) has inked a first-look agreement with Santa Monica-based prodco The Jackal Group.
The deal will see Auerbach charged with developing unscripted and scripted material for the prodco, a venture between CEO Gail Berman and Fox Networks Group (FNG). The company - founded last July following Berman’s exit from BermanBraun - focuses on scripted and unscripted projects for the FNG portfolio of channels, including Fox, FX/FXX, National Geographic Channels and Fox International Channels.
Most recently, Auerbach served as executive VP at NBCUniversal’s Wilshire Studios where he drove the studio’s expansion by selling over 35 series across such broadcast and cable networks as Lifetime, MTV, A&E and History.
Prior to this, Auerbach helmed Go Go Luckey Entertainment as owner and an executive producer responsible for MTV’s Laguna Beach, A&E’s Paranormal State and Animal Planet’s Jockeys. As an indie producer, the exec developed MTV programs Singled Out and Punk’d as well as the game show format Big Deal for Fox.
