Dutch producer and The Voice (pictured) creator Talpa Media and ITV Studios have inked an exclusive production partnership for formats in Australia, the Nordics, the Netherlands and the Middle East.
The agreement – which follows ITV’s £355 million (US$531.68 million) acquisition of Talpa Media in May – sees ITV Studios becoming the production partner for Talpa formats in Australia and the Nordics, while Talpa is set to produce ITV Studios formats in the Netherlands and Middle East.
Diana Buddingh, director of global productions, and Annelies Noes, head of global network, will oversee Talpa’s daily dealings with the global network.
Meanwhile, ITV Studios Nordic is led by MD Hans Engholm while the recently appointed David Mott, CEO of ITV Studios Australia, is set to board that company in November. Both execs will work alongside Mike Beale, executive VP of global development and formats for ITV Studios.
The Voice (Australia, Finland and Norway) and The Voice Kids (Denmark) are not included in the new partnerships due to separate production agreements.
In Cannes, Talpa will be launching the original celebrity dance series Dance, Dance, Dance while ITV Studios is bringing the dating format Love Island to the market, which kicks off tomorrow (October 5).
“A strong and vast international production network is the spine of our content strategy,” said Maarten Meijs, MD of Talpa Global, in a statement. “Utilizing ITV Studios’ international presence in Australia and the Nordics and gaining access to their large portfolio of hit formats in the Netherlands and the Middle East enables us to expand our network even further.”
