Media RED inks first-look deal with Sony Pictures Television
Tom Leach‘s California-based prodco Media RED has inked an unscripted first-look deal with Sony Pictures Television to develop and produce large-scale global TV formats and series. The partnership follows Media RED’s recent development deals with FYI, Pivot, Funny or Die and Red Bull TV. Media RED has been a past recipient of the FYI Development Lab prize in 2015, and the H2 Development Lab prize in 2014 at the Realscreen Summit in Washington DC. The labs look to provide rising production talent the opportunity to develop innovative unscripted programming for the A+E Networks-owned channels.

AOL orders musical collaboration series Act Like a Musician
Online media company AOL has launched the Show Cobra-produced Act Like a Musician (pictured), which partners renowned musicians with famous actors to discuss their lives, careers, passions and friendships before collaborating on a unique musical piece. Presented by Verizon, the six-part series – which premieres today (November 16) – is set to feature Albert Hammond Jr. and Danny Masterson; Josh Charles and Kevin Drew; Taryn Manning and Phases; and Jason Lee and Midlake.

DRG inks Swedish format deals
London-headquartered distributor DRG has secured sales for several fact-ent formats from Swedish producer Strix TV. Global agricultural format The Farm has been renewed by Pro TV in Romania, Planet TV in Slovenia, Markiza in Slovakia, Btv in Bulgaria, RTL Klub in Hungary, Nova in Croatia and Pink TV in Serbia. Spain’s Atresmedia has ordered Internet Troll Hunters and Floor Filler. RTL Netherlands has recommissioned Internet Troll Hunters for a second season. Social experiment reality series Anno from Strix Norway has been picked up by Planet TV in Slovenia and RTL in Croatia.
