Australia’s Seven Network has ordered a local version of the game show Cannonball from ITV Studios Australia.

Created by Talpa (Big Brother, The Voice), the format challenges 15 daredevil couples to compete in a water battle set on a lake. The couples compete in rounds covering distance, speed and height.

The deal is the first to result from the Dutch producer and ITV Studios’ partnership to produce formats in Australia, the Nordics, the Netherlands and the Middle East. That pact followed ITV’s acquisition of Talpa last spring.

Talpa previously produced two seasons of Cannonball – starring four parent-child duos – for Dutch pubcaster NP03. Season three is scheduled to premiere this summer.

ITV Studios Australia also produces the local version of ITV format The Chase for Seven as well as I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here for Ten Network and Keeping Australia Alive for ABC. The latter is based on an ob-doc format by UK producer The Garden.
