The Orchard picks up “All These Sleepless Nights”

Los Angeles-based distributor The Orchard has acquired all North American distribution rights to Michal Marczak’s Sundance-winning documentary All These Sleepless Nights (pictured), which chronicles two Warsaw youth experiencing life to the fullest. The film was produced by Marczak, Endofrina Studio’s Marta Golba and Pulse Films’ Thomas Benski, Julia Nottingham and Lucas Ochoa. The deal was negotiated by Josh Braun and Ben Braun of Submarine on behalf of the filmmakers. The Orchard previously acquired all North American rights to Roger Ross Williams’ Life, Animated.

Portfolio Entertainment hires director of int’l sales and acquisitions

International distributor Portfolio Entertainment has appointed Jonathan Abraham as director of international sales and acquisitions, effective immediately. In the new post, Abraham will be tasked with bringing Portfolio’s original programs to the international marketplace while leading the distribution division’s strategic growth. Additionally, he will be responsible for expanding the company’s third-party acquisitions catalog in kids, factual and lifestyle programming. Based out of Portfolio’s Toronto offices, he will report directly to CEO and co-founder Joy Rosen.

Abraham most recently served as international sales and marketing manager of toy company Zuru, and also held titles at realscreen sister publication Kidscreen, 9 Story Entertainment, Spin Master and Shaw Media.
