Discovery Communications-owned network Discovery en Español is set to premiere its Mary of Nazareth special El Evangelio Según María as part of its Holy Week programming slate.

Through experts, archaeological finds, historical and literary analysis, as well as theological studies, the one-off will chart the story of the Virgin Mary and the Annunciation while revisiting sites thought to be relevant to Mary’s life. The documentary will also attempt to answer whether there is concrete evidence to support the existence of Mary.

Historical sites included in the documentary are the Holy House of Loreto, St. Anne’s Church in Jerusalem, the Milk Grotto in Bethlehem and the ancient Greek city of Ephesus, where the film considers the long-debated question of where Mary spent her final days.

El Evangelio Según María is scheduled to air on March 20 at 9 p.m. EST/PST across Discovery en Español.

The network’s Holy Week programming will also include the broadcast of the Conspiraciones Bíblicas series on March 26 at 8 p.m. EST/PST.
