CBC appoints Sandra Kleinfeld to head up doc strands

Effective May 2, the former unscripted development exec will take on the role of senior director of documentary, overseeing the Canadian pubcaster's doc content team.

CBC has promoted unscripted development exec Sandra Kleinfeld (pictured) to senior director of documentary.

Effective May 2, she will head up the Canadian pubcaster’s documentary content team and oversee strands ‘Firsthand,’ ‘The Nature of Things’ and digital shorts.

She will report to Jennifer Dettman, executive director of unscripted content, English Services.

Most recently, Kleinfeld was the director of development for CBC’s unscripted content. She oversaw development and production on formats and original series with independent and in-house producers.

Prior to that, she worked on social-issue docs for Canwest Global TV and at Alliance Atlantis, where she helped launch Discovery Health Channel Canada.

“She has a strong reputation in the independent production community, and will build on those relationships to further our success and commitment to documentary storytelling on CBC,” Dettman said in a statement.
