After a year and a half in the role, Claire Aguilar is stepping down as director of programming and industry engagement at Sheffield Doc/Fest.

The former Independent Television Service (ITVS) commissioner joined the UK fest in December 2014, and curated the film programs for the 2015 and 2016 festivals.

“I have had the exceptional opportunity of working with the most talented filmmakers and creators at Sheffield Doc/Fest, and being part of a dedicated and gifted team,” said Aguilar in a statement. “I look forward to new adventures in the world of media and documentary.”

Aguilar boarded the 22-year-old Doc/Fest just four months after previous programming director Hussain Currimbhoy left to join the Sundance Film Festival as a doc programmer.

She is to depart at the end of August, and will work with the festival team in the interim to secure a replacement.

The festival is currently inviting expressions of interest for the Director of Film Program position.
