UK-based distributor Passion Distribution has made a raft of sales to ProSiebenSat.1, RTL Group, ZDF, A+E Networks and TV 24 in Germany from its factual entertainment and true crime portfolios; while the distribution arm of Paris-based Newen Group has confirmed the sale of its ISIS documentary Terror Studios to Discovery in Italy and Asia.

Under the first deal, Passion has licensed a package of programming to ProSiebenSat.1, which includes a package to the broadcaster’s new free-to-air doc channel Doku. Titles include the second season of Tornado Alley (12×60), Weather That Changed the World (9×30) and a large number of programs from current affairs strand Unreported World (40×30).

Season four of Timber Kings  (12×60) (pictured) and Prospectors (10×60) have been licensed to ProSieben Maxx, with the ProSiebenSat.1 group of channels having also picked up the first season of Make You Laugh Out Loud (7×60).

RTL Group has acquired Cold Justice: Sex Crimes (10×60). Other Passion true crime titles, including seasons one and two of Mind of a Murderer (12×60) and seasons one and two of Stalked (22×30) have been licensed by A+E Networks, which has also acquired season three of Skin Wars (10×60) and Wedding Town (15×30). Other sales included The Evolution of Us (2×60) to ZDF.

Passion also sold a 70-hour package of programming to Switzerland’s German-language channel TV 24, including Weather Gone Viral (8×60), season two of How the Universe Works (8×60), Autopsy: Most Shocking Cases (5×60) and seasons two and three of Prosecutors (19×60).

Newen Distribution, meanwhile, has finalized a deal that will see the Alexis Marant-directed Terror Studios doc air on free-TV channel Nove in Italy, with a special introduction by Roberto Saviano (creator of the TV show Gomorra).

In Asia, the 52-minute documentary will be available on pay-TV for audiences in Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong-Kong, Indonesia, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Mongolia, Mauritius, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Seychelles, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, South Korea, Japan and Taiwan.

Through graphic imagery and exclusive interviews, the film explores ISIS’s sophisticated use of media in exporting its propaganda videos and messages.
