Vice Media has announced that James Rosenstock has been promoted to president of Viceland International.
In the new role, Rosenstock will be tasked with overseeing the global Viceland TV networks while continuing to execute new strategic international partnerships to bring Vice content to new territories.
Rosenstock will lead a team to manage Viceland’s global growth and collaborate closely with in-country Vice offices on everything from sales and revenue to licensing, local production, distribution and marketing. He’ll also manage Viceland’s relationships with existing distributers and partners in local territories, while pushing new opportunities. Rosenstock joined Vice in 2015 as executive VP of international and chief corporate development officer. He will continue to lead corporate development in addition to his new responsibilities.
Since joining Vice last year, Rosentstock has led the strategic partnerships that have expanded Vice’s offerings around the world. In June, the company unveiled a large slate of international deals that will make its multi-screening programming avaialble to audiences in more than 50 new territories in Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand, Africa, the Middle East and India within the next year.
In a statement, Vice co-president James Schwab said that Rosetnstock has been a key architect in building a globe-spanning multi-screen network that will deliver Vice content to more than 50 new territories in 2017 across digital, mobile and TV.
“TV is just our latest move to bring Vice to as many people as possible wherever they’re consuming it, and as president of Viceland International, Jay will ensure it works hand in glove with our mobile and digital businesses, as well as coordinating with our operations around the world to deliver a local product,” Schwab said in a statement.
Rosentstock added in a statement of his own that Viceland International will work parallel to Vice’s mobile and digital businesses to ensure continued growth, and that he would work to further expand Viceland’s reach into even more territories across digital, TV and mobile.
Prior to joining Vice, Rosenstock served as executive VP of corporate development at Discovery Communications where he oversaw over US$3 billion of international mergers and acquisitions, playing an integral part in scaling the company’s international business, including the acquisitors of SBS Nordic, Eurosport, Switchover Media and all3Media. Before that, he served as an executive at Sony Corporation.
In his new position, Rosentstock is supported by a senior management team that includes: Arjan Hoekstra, GM of Viceland Media and APAC; Kevin Sutcliffe, senior VP of TV and video programming; Quincy Raby, GM of Viceland Canada; CJ Fahey, strategy and operations; Christian Jofre; creative director; and Samuel Hamilton, business development and affiliate relations.
