UK pubcaster Channel 4 has commissioned a 90-minute documentary from Calendar Girls director Nigel Cole that is set to pull the curtain back on legendary musician Bruce Springsteen.

Produced by Lonesome Pine Productions in association with Springsteen’s long-time videographer Thom Zimny, the as-yet titled film will utilize archive footage drawn from home video to film capturing early performances in Greenwich Village to reveal the behind-the-scenes life of the Born to Run singer-songwriter.

The film will also feature intimate conversations with the artist himself set to explore the seminal moments that fueled Springsteen’s drive to become a musician as well as the experiences, places and individuals that have provided influence for his most critically acclaimed songs.

The biopic, which is scheduled to air later this year, has been commissioned by Jonny Rothery, C4′s commissioning editor of formats and music.
