Channel 4 Education commissions one-off doc “Just Not My Type”
UK pubcaster Channel 4 Education has ordered the documentary, Just Not My Type (w/t) which will explore the world of race and modern dating.
This (1×60) feature from Antenna Pictures, hosted by sociologist and broadcaster Emma Dabiri, will follow a group of young people who have compelling and sometimes controversial opinions of who they are willing to date.
The doc will also examine the results of a recent survey of nearly 5,000 people conducted by YouGov — the first of its kind. The youth who will go through a series of experiments to see if there is more to a person that meets the eye in this current judgmental world of modern dating.
DIY Network orders new home reno show featuring NASCAR winner Dale Earnhardt Jr.
DIY Network has greenlit a new home reno title featuring NASCAR champion Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his wife Amy Earnhardt (pictured).
The series (untitled) will follow the couple as they transform a run-down historic house into a beautiful modern home in Key West, Florida. To create their dream home, the couple will have to tackle renovation challenges such as structural damage, faulty plumbing and ancient wiring.
Slated to premiere in early 2018, the (4×30) episodes will showcase Dale’s home improvement skills and Amy’s interior design expertise. The series will be produced by Scripps Productions.
“We’v e seen how Dale Jr. races a car, so we’re confident that with Amy’s help he will easily navigate the typical trials and tribulations of a home renovation,” said John Feld, SVP, originally programming and production, HGTV, DIY Network and Great American Country, in a statement.
HGTV picks up sibling design show, Restored by the Fords
Scripps Network Interactive-owned HGTV has picked up Restored by the Fords, featuring siblings Leanne Ford, a designer, and Steve Ford, a contractor.
The new (8×30) series from High Noon Entertainment will follow the duo as they transform old rural Pennsylvania homes into modern treasures.
Restored by the Fords is slated premiere in January 2018.
