International broadcasters pick up doc about Diana, Princess of Wales
UK-based production-funding and distribution agency Drive has made a raft of international pre-sales on a new documentary film about the life and work of Diana, Princess of Wales.
Channel 7 in Australia, Three New Zealand, CBC in Canada, NRK in Norway, TV 2 in Denmark and YLE Finland have all pre-bought the Oxford Film and Television-produced doc. HBO Documentary Films has already acquired the broadcast rights for the U.S. market. Oxford Film and Television is producing the film for ITV in the UK.
Drive is distributing the film globally, with advanced negotiations currently taking place with broadcasters in multiple territories including Spain (TVE), Japan, Italy, Sweden, Russia, The Netherlands and Germany as well as across Asia, Africa and Latin America. Drive expect deals to be closed imminently.
The untitled film is based on interviews with The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry, and will also include individual contributions from many key figures in the Princess’ life and new archival material.
Magnify Media inks first deal in Turkey for SVT Sweden’s Doobidoo
UK-based distribution and rights management company Magnify Media has closed its first deal in Turkey and its first format license agreement on behalf of SVT Sweden for the show Doobidoo.
Magnify Media and Turkish agent Sera Film’s new deal will sees Kanal D re-versioning SVT’s classic music game show Doobidoo.
The show is now in its 12th season on the Swedish public broadcaster. Turkish indie Formed Yapim has produced an (8 x 120) series of the format where celebrities compete in a series of challenges inspired by five decades of popular music.
Kanal D’s local version of Doobidoo will be presented by popular Turkish singer Irem Derici and will be renamed Enjoy Yourself with Irem Derici and is slated to premiere June 25th.
The distribution rights to original SVT format were awarded to Magnify Media last year.
ITV commissions new series Eat, Shop, Save from Shiver
ITV has commissioned the new consumer series Eat, Shop, Save from Shiver, the factual arm of ITV Studios.
Hosted by actor Ranvir Singh, alongside chef and nutritionist Dale Pinnock, finance guru Gemma Godfrey and fitness consultant Tom Pitfield, the 4×30 series airs this summer with the goal of helping families live a healthier life.
Singh puts families on an eight-week challenge to get fitter, eat healthier and save money on their shopping trips.
With rising inflation and food costs, Singh and her team of experts meet a new family each week who are facing a range of issues: a couple who is devoted to expensive takeaway pizzas; a family whose teatimes are based around processed frozen food; a dad who needs to lose weight or face potential life-threatening health issues; and a widowed mum who feels like her children only eat chicken dippers and chips.
The series was commissioned by Tom Giles, ITV’s controller of current affairs.
