Banijay Rights locks in pre-sales for factual crime series
London-based distributor Banijay Rights has inked sales for its latest factual crime series, I Married a Murderer and American Justice.
I Married a Murderer has pre-sold to UKTV, where it will air on Really later this year.
Produced by Bellum Entertainment, the 104-episode series has also been picked up by Australia’s Foxtel for their C&I channel in a pre-sale brokered by Alex LeMerle, VP of sales.
I Married a Murderer tells the stories of once-loving couples whose marriages end in murder.
Elsewhere, American Justice (3 x 60′), created by UK indie Minnow Films for BBC2, is heading to National Geographic in the U.S. following a deal negotiated by Andreas Lemos, VP of acquisitions and sales for North America.
The series, which premiered in the UK earlier this year, has also been acquired by SBS in Australia.
Located in the city of Jacksonville, Florida, American Justice tells the story of the justice system through the eyes of those who administer it every day. The doc rides alongside cops and ventures inside courts and jails in one of the nation’s toughest states.
