Tribeca Film Institute (TFI) is bringing on indie filmmaking online platform ScreeningRoom as a partner in its IF/Then short documentary program.
The initiative, announced in February, aims to discover and empower an inclusive and representative group of voices in short film, and to introduce a new model of financial sustainability for short documentary filmmakers through a multi-platform distribution plan.
To that end, ScreeningRoom will make its platform available for mentoring, submissions and the distribution of short documentary films made by TFI’s IF/Then grantees. ScreeningRoom will also offer a US$5000 grant for Southeast Asian filmmakers to be awarded through IF/Then in the summer of 2018.
ScreeningRoom, a filmmaker-friendly platform that offers collaborative feedback and submissions to grants, festivals and awards, will be launching distribution with TFI in the spring.
“We are proud to grow our grant programs with a new partner for Southeast Asia,” said Mridu Chandra (pictured), director of TFI’s IF/Then short documentary program, “and we look forward to presenting these international perspectives to audiences across multiple platforms as part of our distribution initiative.”
“We are very excited to have TFI IF/Then as a partner, and to work creatively together. We share the same vision of supporting emerging and diverse voices,” added Marie-Helene Carleton, co-founder of ScreeningRoom.
