Planet Earth II, American Justice and Last Days Of Solitary are among the non-fiction titles nominated for the 2017 Royal Television Society’s Craft & Design Awards.
The awards – presented by the British forum for broadcast television and related media – consist of 31 categories, and celebrate a variety of skills and processes involved in program production.
In the documentary and factual director category, Marcus Plowright is nominated for BBC3′s American High School (Swan Films) alongside Arthur Cary and Jonathan Taylor for BBC2′s American Justice (Minnow Films), and Dan Edge and Lauren Mucciolo for BBC4′s Last Days of Solitary (Mongoose Pictures, ‘Frontline’ PBS).
Meanwhile, competing for the top prize in the photography – documentary/factual & non-drama category are Arthur Cary and Jonathan Taylor for BBC2′s American Justice, Dan Edge and Tim Grucza for BBC4′s Last Days Of Solitary, and the Planet Earth II production team (BBC Studios, The Natural History Unit) for BBC1.
Including that nomination, the natural history juggernaut Planet Earth II has been nominated across three categories for documentary and factual, with nods also for editing and sound.
Winners will be announced at a ceremony, hosted by Love Island presenter Iain Stirling, on Nov. 27 at the London Hilton, Park Lane.
The winners of the Design & Craft Innovation Award, Judges’ Award and Lifetime Achievement Award will also be announced Nov. 27.
