London-based prodco October Films has bolstered its senior development teams in the UK and U.S. with the promotions of Louis Mole and Matt Dewar.

The appointments are intended to help drive October’s development slate for existing networks across the UK and U.S., as well as new clients and digital platforms.

Both Mole (pictured, left) and Dewar (right) will report into Matt Robins, October Films’ creative director, who oversees development across the UK and U.S.

Mole has been elevated to the role of head of development for the U.S. He joined October Films in 2014 within the London development team before moving to the company’s New York offices. Promoted to senior developer producer in 2016, he was responsible for overseeing October’s entire U.S. development slate.

Mole’s credits include developing National Geographic’s Mygrations (6 x 60), Discovery Channel’s Trailblazers (6 x 60) and a seven-part series for Lifetime.

Dewar, meanwhile, takes on the position of head of development for the UK.

Having boarded October from British pubcaster BBC as a senior development producer in 2012, Dewar held responsibility for managing and leading the studio’s factual UK development team.

His recent commissions include BBC2′s Dangerous Borders (3 x 60) and Caravanner of the Year (2 x 60), BBC3′s Annie: Out of the Ashes (1 x 60) and Channel 4′s The Big Spring Clean (1 x 60).

“Matt and Louis’ achievements reflect October’s commitment to building a working environment where young, talented people can learn, develop and flourish,” said Robins in a statement. “I’m enormously proud of the different ways Matt and Louis have expressed their creativity and ambition, and know they’ll continue to develop and produce outstanding content as October expands.”

October is currently in production on multiple series for Channel 4, the BBC, Investigation Discovery, Science Channel and Lifetime.

The company’s U.S. joint venture Talos Films, with backing from Sky Vision, has already produced a landmark docu-drama series for History U.S., and is in production and development on various scripted and unscripted projects.
