McFarland has joined WE tv from Viacom’s VH1 as VP of original programming. In her new role, she will be responsible for overseeing original series currently in development, while also providing guidance on all aspects of production, including casting, story and production plans.
Prior to WE tv, McFarland served as VH1′s VP of production and development, where she was responsible for the development and production of series and specials with a focus on reality programming. Her credits at the Viacom network included Mob Wives and Black Ink Crew.
Elsewhere, Stefanou (pictured, left), formerly VP of development, has been elevated to senior VP of original programming and development for the network. In the new role, he will be responsible for discovering and promoting original unscripted content.
Since joining WE tv in October 2014, Stefanou has been instrumental in leading the development team while cultivating such series as Hustle & Soul and Mama June: From Not to Hot. Prior to WE tv, Stefanou served as SVP of programming at True Entertainment and VP of original programming at Oxygen.
Pendelton-Eaglin (right) has been promoted from executive producer to VP of original programming. She oversees WE’s latest franchises Growing Up Hip Hop and Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta. Prior to joining WE in 2015, Pendelton-Eaglin was VP of development and current programming at Style Network, and VP of development and current programming at BET Network.
The trio will report into Lauren Gellert, EVP of development and original programming.
Stefanou and McFarland are based out of WE tv’s New York offices, while Pendelton-Eaglin is based in Los Angeles.
“David, Sitarah and Kari are all creative and skilled executives who have a keen understanding of the kind of unscripted programming that resonates with WE tv audiences,” said Gellert in a statement. “David and Sitarah have both played critical roles in growing WE tv’s original programming slate and popularizing shows like Mama June and Growing Up Hip Hop, and I am very excited to welcome Kari, who has done exceptional work at VH1 and is already contributing to WE tv’s next slate of hit shows.
