GRB sells crime series to Eastern Europe
U.S.-based producer and distributor GRB Entertainment has sold a raft of crime series to broadcasters in the UK, Poland, Czech Republic, and Slovakia.
In the UK, PBS America picked up FBI Takedowns, where teams of FBI agents hunt down the world’s most wanted criminals.
Kinosvet in Czech Republic and Slovakia also picked up FBI Takedowns along with four other series: Gothic Killers, which tells true stories of how people involved in occults committed crimes; Gang World, which takes a look at the origins of the some of the most violent gangs in the U.S.; Occult Crimes (pictured), which offers a look inside the minds of killers; and The Bureau, which follows FBI agents, analysts, and profilers as they investigate cases.
Killer Kids was picked up by Zoom Poland. The series follows investigators as they discover what could push kids to kill. Zoom also acquired Twisted Tales of My 9 to 5, which explores crimes that take place at work.
Indiecan takes “Waking the Sleeping Giant”
Indiecan Entertainment has acquired the North American distribution rights to Purple Frog Productions’ Waking the Sleeping Giant: The Making of a Political Revolution.
The doc tells the story of the 2016 U.S. presidential election in 2016, chronicling the challenges and opportunities faced by a resurgent political movement on the left, while following five individuals (including U.S. senator and presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders) wrestling with racial injustice, economic inequality, and the corrupting influence of money in politics.
Waking the Sleeping Giant is directed by Jon Erickson and Jacob Smith. Kathryn Goldman, a veteran political campaigner, serves as a producer.
The filmmaking team also included cinematographers Elaine McMillion Sheldon and Kerrin Sheldon, 2018 Academy Award nominees for their short documentary Heroin(e), and Brad Johanson, a nine-time regional Emmy award-winning editor.
“The Remix” to launch on Amazon Prime Video India
Independent TV content distributor Global Agency has brokered a deal that will see music reality format The Remix debut on Amazon Prime Video India.
The format will stream on March 9 across 200 countries and territories worldwide.
Created and produced by Greymatter Entertainment, The Remix is a live music reality show where DJs and singers pair up and work together to bring new flavor to existing tracks. They compete for a cash prize as well as the chance to cut their own album.
The format has been sold to 15 countries, including Indonesia, China, South Africa and Vietnam.
