All3Media Int’l inks Chilean deal
Indie distributor All3Media International has secured a distribution deal that will send Filmpool’s constructed reality series Families at the Crossroads to Chilean pubcaster TVN.
The localized adaptation will be produced by Chilean prodco Bowen DDRio. The format is slated to premier later this year in the region.
Each episode of Families at the Crossroads features a dramatized retelling of a story of self-discovery, as told through the eyes of a female hero. The series focuses its lens on what happens when a family bond is torn apart due to abuse, betrayal, secrets or illness.
Originally commissioned by RTL Germany, the format has seen more than 2,500 episodes produced worldwide, having been adapted in the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Russia and Ukraine.
Families at the Crossroads marks the first commission in the region for Filmpool’s constructed reality genre. Filmpool is the German-based sister company to All3Media International.
Pernel Media sends hit docudrama worldwide
Paris-based indie Pernel Media has accumulated a raft of international sales for its docudrama The Real War of Thrones: A History of Europe (pictured).
Foxtel Australia acquired the series for its History Channel, while ViasatWorld will broadcast the series across multiple free-TV and pay-TV channels across 29 territories in Eastern Europe, Russia, the Baltic States and Scandanavia, as well as in 20 territories in Portugese-speaking and sub-Saharan Africa. French-speaking Canadian broadcaster TV5 has also acquired the series for Quebec.
The deals were negotiated by France TV Distribution. Most recently, SVOD platform CuriosityStreampicked up the global non-exclusive streaming rights to the series.
Originally commissioned by France 5, The Real War of Thrones (4 x 60, pictured) is a 4K docu-drama series that charts the rival dynasties that forged the history of modern Europe.
Each episode focuses on a period of 30 to 40 years, which corresponds to a critical moment in European history and a clash between two rival European houses and their allies. Featured rivalries include Edward Plantagenet’s conflict with the house of Valois, and Henry VI’s battles with Charles VII and the Hundred Years War.
Pernel is also producing an English language version of the series for History UK that will be fronted by historian Dan Jones.
