Global content creator Lionsgate has signed a first-look deal with Emmy-nominated producer and actor Paul Feig.
Under the deal, Feig (pictured) and producing partner Jessie Henderson will create scripted and unscripted series and formats for the Lionsgate Television Group through his Feigco Entertainment production company.
Lionsgate and Feig’s relationship already includes the unscripted half-hour comedy Netflix series The Joel McHale Show with Joel McHale, which launched earlier this month.
Feig’s was the creator of scripted series Freaks and Geeks as well as the director and co-executive producer of The Office. Feig also directed female star-driven comedies Bridesmaids, Spy, Ghostbusters and The Heat. He is currently in post-production on Lionsgate’s thriller A Simple Favor, starring Blake Lively, Anna Kendrick and Henry Golding which is heading to theaters September 14.
The deal was negotiated for Lionsgate by executive vice president of television business affairs Dan Hadl.
Feig joins Lionsgate’s roster of producer relationships that include Joel Silver, Matt Kunitz, Courtney Kemp, Jeff Apploff and K.P. Anderson.
