New York-based film and television distributor FilmRise has acquired worldwide distribution rights to John Keating’s feature documentary Gamechangers: Dreams of Blizzcon.

The 91-minute film, which will be released by FilmRise on June 12, provides an intimate look into the professional world of eSports as seen through the eyes of two of the world’s best StarCraft II players.

Produced by Wild West Productions, Gamechangers takes viewers behind the scenes into some of the personal stories that led these players into the world of gaming and, eventually, their status as champions. The film follows the pair from South Korea, to Germany and finally to BlizzCon in Anaheim, California where they battle it out for a US$100,000 prize and the title of world champion.

Peter Billingsley, Daniel Chalfen, Zachary Henderson and Vince Vaughn are producers on the film.

FilmRise’s Max Einhorn, VP of acquisitions, negotiated the deal with Billingsley of Wild West Productions.

“Keating does a wonderful job of capturing the passion of these young men and the fierce competition that they must endure,” said FilmRise CEO Danny Fisher in a statement. “We are excited to present their lives and dedication to this esport through this groundbreaking film.”
