Recently launched Dutch production shop Binky has inked an extensive first-look deal with Belgian formats boutique Emidan Formats.
Under the deal, the Utrecht-based Binky will also represent a large number of Emidan’s unscripted projects in the Dutch marketplace, with approximately 10 titles currently on offer. Binky and Emidan will also co-develop series for the Benelux and international markets.
Binky was founded in 2017 by Maarten Bartstra and Willem van Thiel (pictured).
Bartstra previously served as a producer and production director at FremantleMedia-owned Blue Circle over a 15-year period. His past credits include the Dutch version of The Great British Bake Off (Heel Holland Bakt), RTL Boulevard and Holland’s Got Talent.
Van Thiel, meanwhile, was head of research and development at Dutch pubcaster BNNVARA. Prior to this, he was senior creative and editor-in-chief at Endemol and Blue Circle, with production credits that include RTL Late Night, #BOOS; The Quiz; Heel Holland Bakt and State Lottery Pure Luck.
Belgium’s Emidan Formats also launched in early 2017 and deals in unscripted programs across a variety of genres, including game shows, fact-ent and talent shows.
