U.S. arts network Ovation has added three culinary titles to its line-up from global distributor FremantleMedia International that feature celebrity chef Jamie Oliver and restaurateur Grant Achatz.
The deal with FMI includes the license for the first season of Jamie’s American Road Trip (6 x 60 minutes), three seasons of Jamie & Jimmy’s Food Fight Club (16 x 60 minutes) and the one-hour documentary Alinea in Residence Madrid. All of the programs are set to air on Ovation later this year, as well as on Ovation’s AVOD travel channel JOURNY.
In Jamie’s American Road Trip, the celebrity chef takes to the road to taste real American food, meeting unsung chefs and food producers, while in Jamie & Jimmy’s Food Fight Club (pictured), Oliver and his childhood friend Jimmy Doherty partner on recipes and wild ingredients to cook dishes at an Essex, UK cafe. Celebrity friends stop in to learn how to cook with them, and Oliver and Doherty also leave the cafe to spread the word about new food campaigns. Both series are produced by Jamie Oliver Productions for Channel 4 UK.
In the FremantleMedia Spain-produced doc Alinea in Residence Madrid, chef Grant Achatz and his team attempt to replicate his Michelin three-star Chicago restaurant in Madrid. Achatz hopes to reinvigorate his skills and gain inspiration in Spain, to take back to his re-opened restaurant.
“The culinary arts, including foraging and gastronomy, make for a fitting and tasteful addition to the Ovation family,” said Scott Woodward, EVP of programming at Ovation, in a statement.
