All3Media-owned factual producer betty has bolstered its senior team with the appointment of former Lime Pictures executive Daniella Berendsen.
Berendsen (pictured) joins the London-based prodco in the newly created role of head of factual entertainment. She previously served as creative director at Lime Pictures, where she was responsible for ITVBe’s The Only Way is Essex, and was also involved in driving development, winning new business and nurturing on-screen talent.
In addition, she executive produced ITVBe’s There’s Something About Megan and ITV culinary program Gordon, Gino and Fred’s Christmas Roast for Studio Ramsay.
Prior to Lime, Berendsen worked at British indie Monkey Kingdom, where she series edited E4′s Made in Chelsea. She has also series produced and edited such series as Sky Living’s Dating in the Dark, Channel 4′s Celebrity Big Brother, Big Brother UK, The Games and Unanimous.
Also, betty has elevated industry veteran David Harrison to head of factual & adventure formats.
Harrison has been responsible for growing and developing the London-based prodco’s varied factual commissions since joining betty two years ago.
For betty, he has executive produced such acclaimed series as ITV’s Bear’s Mission With… and Bear Grylls: Mission Survive; Discovery docuseries Everest Rescue; Discovery Networks International’s adventure format Ed Stafford: Left for Dead; and Quest’s Slider: Ice Warrior Challenge.
Harrison has also developed Kings of the Wild and Bear Grylls: Breaking Point for DNI.
He previously held roles at Tern TV, Zodiak Media, IWC and Indus, while heading his own prodco, Ambition Productions.
Both Berendsen and Harrison will work closely with company CCO Alex Menzies to lead development and oversee programming in their respective genres.
“Daniella and Dave both specialize in making high quality, well-cast programs and they are perfectly placed to help create and shape the next generation of betty titles,” said Menzies in a statement.
He added: “Having worked closely with Dave it would be impossible not to be impressed by the breadth of programs he has developed and produced. Equally, I could not be happier to have Daniella join the team – she’s such a gifted creative. Her expertise and attitude to program making will be invaluable as we create new factual entertainment series.”
