Channel 5′s My5 inks content deals
Viacom-owned UK broadcaster Channel 5 has signed four content partnership deals for its video-on-demand platform My5.
C5 has secured content agreements with PBS America, Together Channel, Little Dot Studios and BET, whose programming will appear on the platform from July 2018.
PBS America, which in the UK is a branch of American public broadcaster PBS, will broadcast a slate of documentaries on My5, including Secrets of the Manor House (pictured), Secrets of Stonehenge, Becoming the Beatles and The History Detectives.
UK free-to-air channel Together, meanwhile, is set to premiere Mary’s Silver Service, David Attenborough’s Richmond Park and Great British Garden Revival.
Little Dot Studios will launch with content from two of its owned thematic web channels, including human interest documentary channel Real Stories, and science and engineering channel, Spark.
Meanwhile, content from Viacom’s BET will include scripted drama and the reality series Chasing Destiny.
C5 struck the first deal of this type last year with A+E Networks UK for its Blaze channel. A+E Networks UK has also extended its partnership with My5, increasing its content commitment while allowing viewers to continue to watch such shows as Swamp People, Pawn Stars, Forged in Fire and Billy the Exterminator.
My5 houses all of the pubcaster’s most popular content including The Yorkshire Vet, Make or Break? and Rich House, Poor House.

FIPA becomes FIPADOC
The Festival International du Documentaire team has unveiled the main points of the first FIPADOC, to be held in Biarritz, France from Jan. 22 to 27, 2019.
FIPADOC will feature all genres of documentaries, ranging from history, discovery, geopolitics, culture, society and comedy from all over the world. All formats and all styles – including in-depth reports, hybrid films and creative documentaries – will be featured.
The opening night will focus on music, with the support of the Society of Authors, Composers and Publishers of Music. The evening will encompass a music documentary, and live concert and conference related to the screening.
The France-set festival will also spotlight Germany with a selection of approximately 10 recent German documentaries alongside professional meetings between French and German creative partners.
The documentary film festival will also present three Grand Prizes. The International Documentary category will be composed of 10 to 15 films unreleased in France. The French Documentary section will include 10 to 15 unreleased films shown as worldwide premieres. And the Music Documentary category will consist of 10 French and international films.
The choice of unreleased films will be limited to French selections. Certain films already playing the festival circuit will still be included in the FIPADOC selections.
FIPA will become FIPADOC in 2019, with the festival shifting its focus solely on documentaries.
