The series is set to explore a range of different narcotics and the youth who depend on them, from dangerous street and party drugs to those using drugs to obtain the “perfect” body, and those looking to enhance their sexual freedoms.

Vice Studios’ creative director Yonni Usiskin is executive producer. The series was ordered by C5′s Guy Davies, commissioning editor of factual.

“Vice Studios has a unique storytelling voice which appeals to younger audiences,” said Davies in a statement. “With cutting-edge journalism and unrivalled access, we are really pleased to be working with them once again.”

Drug Wars is Channel 5′s latest commission from Vice, following the succeses of its three-part series Britain’s Cocaine Epidemic, which traced the UK’s obsession with cocaine.
