British commercial television network Channel 5 has commissioned Vice Studios to produce a new docuseries that will look at prolific drug use across the United Kingdom.
Drug Wars (4 x 60 minutes; w/t) will seek to offer audiences candid insight from drug users and their families, as well as from the medical workers and law enforcement officials attempting to stem the current flow of drug addiction across the country.
The series is set to explore a range of different narcotics and the youth who depend on them, from dangerous street and party drugs to those using drugs to obtain the “perfect” body, and those looking to enhance their sexual freedoms.
“Vice Studios has a unique storytelling voice which appeals to younger audiences,” said Davies in a statement. “With cutting-edge journalism and unrivalled access, we are really pleased to be working with them once again.”
Drug Wars is Channel 5′s latest commission from Vice, following the succeses of its three-part series Britain’s Cocaine Epidemic, which traced the UK’s obsession with cocaine.
