Glasgow-based television prodco Firecrest Films has bolstered its senior creative team with the appointment of two new executive producers.
Mark Harrison (pictured left) joined Firecrest Films earlier this year as a series producer for Supershoppers. In his new role as executive producer, Harrison will be tasked with managing Firecrest’s current affairs slate, looking after upcoming commissions for BBC1′s docustrand ‘Panorama’, Channel 4′s ‘Dispatches’ docustrand and Supershoppers.
Meanwhile, Andrew Abbott (right) comes to Firecrest from BBC1′s Faith Behind Bars, which he both directed and produced. His executive producer credits include The Scottish Bounty Hunter (Mentorn for BBC1), Boy Soldiers of World War 2 (Peachtree Films for Channel 5) and Transsexual Stories (Peachtree Films for BBC Scotland).
The hiring of Abbott and Harrison will now double Firecrest’s creative team to six, sitting alongside Iain Scollay, Mark Roberts, Nicole Kleeman and recently appointed executive producer Lorraine McKechnie.
Firecrest was also recommissioned for Supershoppers, the award-winning Channel 4 consumer series, which will bow for a sixth seasons in 2019, alongside a number of spin-off singles.
“Our continued growth depends upon hiring and developing the very best talent, as we continue to deliver high quality programmes across an expanding portfolio,” said Firecrest MD Nicole Kleeman in a statement. “These new appointments reflect the vibrancy of the production sector in Scotland which is making brilliant programs thanks to exciting senior creative talent.”
