Toronto-headquartered Entertainment One (eOne) has penned a multi-year, first-look deal with Emmy- and Grammy-winning musician and producer will.i.am.
Under the terms of the agreement, will.i.am will serve as an executive producer on all projects and will develop and produce original programming with the global producer/distributor, which will control the worldwide rights to any feature film projects, as well as scripted and unscripted television content.
Sara Ramaker, COO of will.i.am’s I.Am.Media, will serve as his producing partner.
A multi-faceted entertainer and entrepreneur, will.i.am’s television production credits include Apple’s reality series Planet of the Apps; ABC’s educational primetime special i.am First: Science is Rock and Roll; and the NASA-commissioned documentary i.am.mars: Reach For The Stars that aired on Science Channel.
In addition, will.i.am will return for an eighth year as a coach on ITV’s The Voice UK in January 2019.
will.i.am is represented by CAA and Hertz Lichtenstein & Young LLP; both were advisors on the deal.
“will.i.am has an extensive track record of creating entertainment content that moves masses and shapes cultural moments,” said Peter Micelli, eOne’s chief strategy officer of film, television and digital, in a statement. “We have long admired his body of work and can’t wait to collaborate on exceptional content together.”
