Red Arrow Studios-owned prodco Karga Seven Pictures has appointed Ömer Özgüner as CEO of the studio’s Turkish outfit, effective immediately.

With 25 years of Turkish media industry experience, Özgüner most recently served as general manager of Star TV Turkey over a six-year period. During his time at Star TV, he played a pivotal role in creating hit domestic and international shows across a range of genres.

Özgüner replaces former Karga Seven Pictures Turkey CEO Ozer Sata.

Prior to joining Star TV Turkey in 2012, Özgüner held a number of senior positions at multiple networks, including having worked his way up to director of programming at news channel NTV, where he is credited with helping to shape the successes of the network.

Karga Seven Pictures, the Los Angeles-headquartered production company behind reality series Hunting Hitler and Booze Traveler, launched its Istanbul, Turkey production hub in 2017.

Karga Seven Pictures Turkey is focused on creating original content across both scripted and factual television series, feature films, documentaries, game shows and branded content for mobile and digital platforms. The company is also in the process of acquiring a number of internationally recognized series, with further details to follow shortly.

Global distribution of new programming will be handled by Red Arrow International.

“Karga is the only production company in Turkey that is aiming to grow via international partnerships,” said Özgüner in a statement. “We want to produce rich, unique content for Turkish and international audiences, and have everything in place to achieve this, including a strong new team. Our financing strength and backing, and focus on original literary works and creative excellence, means that Karga is well-placed to be a key player in the industry.”
