UK-based indie prodco Woodcut Media, part of the Anthology Group, is bringing on former A+E Networks UK channel director Koulla Anastasi as a strategy and development consultant, effective immediately.
Anastasi (pictured) will report to Woodcut CEO Kate Beal, working to drive and expand international activities, with a focus on international crime programming. Her role will involve building global partnerships, new project development and more, including some non-crime factual titles.
Before joining Woodcut, Anastasi served as channel director for Crime + Investigation and Lifetime at A+E Networks UK, where she was responsible for developing and driving brand and editorial strategy in the UK and Ireland, as well as EMEA. She commissioned, developed and produced series including Robbie Coltrane’s Critical Evidence and Crimes That Shook Britain, and was responsible for the roll-out of global hit franchises including Dance Moms and Project Runway. She has produced 300 hours of true crime programming.
During that time, she also worked with and developed a strong rapport with Woodcut, commissioning and working together on crime docs including Jo Frost on Killer Kids and Holloway: Women Behind Bars.
Anastasi will continue to work on her own independent projects in addition to consulting with Woodcut.
“We have known Koulla for many years now and admired the wealth of skills, expertise and insight she brings to every production,” said Beal in a statement. “This opportunity comes at the perfect time for Woodcut as we have been growing steadily and are making waves internationally, so welcoming her as a consultant will definitely contribute in taking us to that next level.”
