Premium cable network HBO will present the television broadcast premiere of Sareen Hairabedian’s documentary short We Are Not Done Yet on Nov. 8, in conjunction with Veterans Day.
The 40-minute film, which held its world premiere at the 2018 GI Film Festival San Diego, profiles a group of U.S. veterans and active-duty service members as they come together through a United Service Organizations workshop, led by poet Seema Reza, to combat current and past military traumas through the written word.
In workshop sessions and rehearsals, military men and women confront their ongoing struggles with post-traumatic stress disorder related to combat and past sexual assaults, as well as the challenges of readjusting to civilian life.
The documentary culminates in a performance of the group’s collaborative poem, “We Are Not Done Yet,” at Washington, DC’s Lansburgh Theatre.
The short is produced by Westworld and Emmy-winning actor Jeffrey Wright and David Holbrooke, and is co-produced by Patti Bonnet. HBO’s Nancy Abraham serves as executive producer.
We Are Not Done Yet premieres Nov. 8 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on HBO, and will also be made available across HBO on Demand, HBO Now, HBO Go and partners’ streaming platforms.
