Multinational media and entertainment company Entertainment One (eOne) has secured a multi-year, first-look deal with music executive and Casablanca Records co-owner Tommy Mottola and his Mottola Media Group (MMG).

Under terms of the deal, Mottola will produce and develop both scripted and unscripted content for eOne, while serving as an executive producer on all original television programming projects. eOne will serve as the studio and control worldwide rights for all projects.

Additionally, Mottola will lend his wide-ranging artist and industry experience as a consultant to eOne’s music and live entertainment business.

The first title to stem from the pact is the scripted series Harlem High for the Disney–ABC Television Group-owned pay-TV channel Freeform. Overbrook Entertainment produces alongside Mottola.

In addition to news of the partnership, former Talpa Media USA executive Jennifer Danska has joined MMG as EVP of the company, overseeing daily operations of the partnership with eOne.

Mottola formerly served as chairman and CEO of Sony Music Entertainment, and currently heads the New York-headquartered global media and entertainment company Mottola Media Group. He is credited with discovering and developing some of the music industry’s brightest stars, including Hall and Oates, John Mellencamp, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel and Jennifer Lopez, among many others.

“Tommy is a zeitgeist force in the global music industry as well as Latino and urban entertainment and far beyond,” said eOne’s Pete Micelli, chief strategy officer for film & television, in a statement. “His ability to identify pop-culture trends and long track record of breaking records and staying ahead of the curve make him a strong magnet for talent and an incredible partner for eOne.”
