Nordic Entertainment Group names Sahar Kupersmidt as SVP, head of Nordic DTH TV

Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group) has elevated Sahar Kupersmidt as SVP & head of Nordic DTH TV, effective immediately.

Kupersmidt will shepherd the regional development of NENT Group’s Viasat satellite operator business, which offers pay-TV services to customers in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. Kupersmidt reports to NENT Group president and CEO Anders Jensen and will be a member of the group executive management team.

Kupersmidt joined NENT Group in 2007 and most recently served as head of Viasat Sweden.

Following Kupersmidt’s appointment, Mahmoud Mustapha, Viasat Sweden’s director of product and customer experience, has been appointed VP and head of pay TV Sweden, effective immediately.

UKTV’s Dave readies Dave’s Advent Calendar

This Christmas, UKTV’s comedy channel Dave will prepare series of festive shorts set to feature top comedians in Dave’s Advent Calendar (pictured). 

The daily comedy shorts, produced by Strawberry Blond, will run for the 24 days in December leading up to the Christmas holiday. The series will feature insight into a slew of British comedians, including Jon Richardson, Romesh Ranganathan, Sally Phillips, Ross Noble, Kerry Godliman and Josh Widdicombe.

Dave’s Advent Calendar (24 x 2 minutes) concludes on Christmas Eve (Dec. 24) with a version of a Christmas Carol.

Produced by Strawberry Blond, Mark Lucey is the series producer, with Steve Wynne as executive producer and director.

Dave’s Advent Calendar is commissioned by UKTV commissioning editor Joe McVey, who will oversee as executive producer, and ordered for Dave by Richard Watsham, director of commissioning, and Steve North, genre GM for entertainment and comedy.

Theatrical release set for Who Will Write Our History

New York-based distributor Abramorama has brokered an agreement with Katahdin Productions and Playmount Productions for the U.S. and Canadian theatrical distribution of Roberta Grossman’s latest feature Who Will Write Our History.

Days following the sealing of 450,000 Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto in November 1940, a secret group of journalists, scholars and community leaders decided to fight back against Nazi lies and propaganda via pen and paper.

Grossman’s documentary infuses archive with new interviews, rarely seen footage and dramatizations to bring audiences into the ghetto and the lives of those resistance fighters.

Who Will Write Our History held its world premiere at San Francisco Jewish Film Festival where it garnered the Audience Award for Best Documentary Feature. The documentary is also the official selection at FilmFest Hamburg, Heartland Film Festival, Rome Film Fest, Palm Springs International Film Festival, among others.

Who Will Write Our History bows in New York at the Quad Cinema on Jan. 18, 2019 and at various Laemmle theaters in Los Angeles, including Laemmle’s Music Hall on Feb. 1, 2019, followed by engagements around the country.
