Unscripted TV veteran and former NBC executive Craig Plestis is bringing his Smart Dog Media production shingle to Endemol Shine North America (ESNA) via an overall development deal.

Under the deal, Plestis (pictured) and his team at the Los Angeles-based Smart Dog will develop a range of original non-scripted series for ESNA. Plestis is set to launch his latest shiny floor format Masked Singer with Endemol Shine North America on Fox this January.

“After meeting with Sharon [Levy, president of unscripted and scripted TV at Endemol Shine North America] and her team, it was clear to me that joining forces made a lot of sense given Endemol Shine’s global sensibility and reach,” Plestis said in a statement.

Prior to launching Smart Dog in 2013, Plestis served as EVP of alternative programming, development and specials at American commercial broadcaster NBC. During his four-year tenure as NBC’s top unscripted executive, Plestis had a hand in developing and launching a number of successful formats, including America’s Got Talent, The Biggest Loser, Deal or No Deal?, Fear Factor and The Singing Bee, among many others.

Under the Smart Dog banner, Plestis has exec produced such series as NBC’s game shows Minute to Win It and The Winner Is…; Syfy’s competition series Robot Combat League; and Food Network’s Chef Wanted.
