BBC Studios has appointed Claire Popplewell and Martha Housden to two new roles on its factual entertainment and events creative team.
Housden (pictured, left) will step into the role of creative director for development, where she will lead the development output for BBC Studios factual entertainment and events.
She comes to BBC after more than four years in the same role at British TV prodco Twenty Twenty, where she secured The Big Audition for ITV, First Dates Hotel for Channel 4 and The Dancing Town for BBC2, among others.
Claire Popplewell (right) has been appointed creative director of BBC Studios Events, after a multi-award winning career as producer, director, executive producer and editor. She will lead a team responsible for creating and covering major UK and international events.
Popplewell most recently produced and directed the global coverage of The Royal Wedding: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for BBC1, as well as BAFTA-winning World War One Remembered: Passchendaele for BBC2.
Both will assume their new roles immediately.
The factual entertainment and events arm of the UK pubcaster’s production studio is responsible for such programming as Top Gear and Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond The Lobby, as well as national events like the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance and Invictus Games.
