Endemol Shine Australia (ESA) has elevated unscripted MD Peter Newman to the post of chief creative officer, effective immediately.
In the new role, Newman will oversee the company’s production slate while managing its production and development teams. He will additionally take on core business responsibilities and contribute to the strategic direction of the company led by CEOs Mark and Carl Fennessy, to whom he reports.
Since joining ESA in 2012, Newman has been responsible for all aspects of Endemol Shine Australia’s unscripted slate, overseeing more than 60 series including major formats MasterChef, Married at First Sight, Australian Survivor, Australian Ninja Warrior and Gogglebox, among many others.
Prior to joining Endemol Shine, Newman was head of production and development for Australian broadcaster SBS where he managed the team of commissioning editors across all genres. Before that, he held various positions across the UK indie sector, including head of development at Outline Productions.
“This is a richly deserved promotion for an exceptionally talented executive,” said ESA’s Carl Fennessy in a statement. “Peter is a world class creative leader who sets the highest standards of excellence across our programming slate. His impressive track record, hard work ethic and passion for his programming team will see him shine in his new role.”
