Oxygen Media, NBCUniversal’s true crime multi-platform network for women, has set a mid-January premiere date for 44 Blue Productions and Blumhouse Television’s Smiley Face Killers: The Hunt for Justice.

The series follows an active private investigation spearheaded by retired NYPD Detective Kevin Gannon and his team of investigators – Anthony Duarte, Mike ‘Mikey’ Donovan and D. Lee ‘Doc’ Gilbertson – who have tirelessly dedicated the past 12 years to further investigate and solve a string of mysterious and accidental drownings across the U.S.

Gannon and his team of investigators will work hand-in-hand with victims’ families and top forensic experts to crack each suspected homicide connected to a larger theory of The Smiley Face Killers.

According to Oxygen, hundreds of college-aged men – all athletic, academic achievers – since 1997 have mysteriously drowned after a night of drinking. Their bodies have been found across the country with one distinct mark: graffiti of a smiley face.

Executive producers on the series include Rasha Drachkovitch, Jason Blum, Marci Wiseman, Jeremy Gold and Leane Vandeman. Julie Merson and Mary Lisio are co-executive producers.

Smiley Face Killers: The Hunt for Justice premieres Jan. 19 at 7 p.m. ET/PT on Oxygen.
