CBS Films is currently in negotiations to acquire the North American rights to Academy Award-winning director Ron Howard’s forthcoming feature-length documentary Pavarotti.
The film will provide an intimate look at the life and career of Italian operatic tenor Luciano Pavarotti through a combination of performance footage and never-before-seen archive.
Pavarotti, who served as one-third of The Three Tenors, is one of the best-selling recording artists in music history with more than 100 million records sold over the course of a 51-year-career.
The doc was fully financed by Universal Music Group’s Polygram Entertainment and is a production of Polygram Entertainment, Decca Records, Imagine Entertainment and White Horse Pictures.
Pavarotti is produced by White Horse Pictures’ Nigel Sinclair, Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Glazer, Ron Howard, Michael Rosenberg and Jeanne Elfant Festa, along with David Blackman and Dickon Stainer serving as executive producers.
Mark Monroe penned the script for the doc.
Imagine Entertainment could not be immediately reached for comment.
