Discovery-owned cable channel HGTV is rebooting the popular ABC home renovation series Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

Endemol Shine North America – the team behind the original series – will produce the new 10-episode series, which is expected to premiere in early 2020.

The cast for the revival has not yet been revealed, but HGTV will showcase its own experts in the weekly race to complete a custom, whole house renovation for one deserving family.

HGTV has also secured the rights to air 100 existing episodes of the original series that previously ran on ABC for nine seasons, from 2003 to 2012. According to statistics provided by HGTV, at its peak during the 2004-20005 season of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition averaged nearly 16 million viewers per episode.

Sharon Levy and DJ Nurre will serve as series executive producers for Endemol Shine North America.

“This is a big win for HGTV and we can’t wait to put our stamp on it,” said Kathleen Finch, chief lifestyle brands officer at Discovery Inc., in a statement. “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition was must-see viewing for years because it combined moving stories of families and communities with life-changing home renovations. It’s the type of program that taps into every emotion and it’s the reason it was so popular with everyone in America.”

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition will be available on demand across all platforms and on the HGTV app.
