Former Sky executive Adam MacDonald has boarded ITV Studios-owned entertainment prodco Possessed as chairman.
MacDonald previously served as director of Sky One and Sky Living over a five-year period before departing the European satcaster amid senior level restructuring in May, which saw standalone channel head roles in the entertainment group eliminated. There, he commissioned such entertainment series as A Discovery of Witches and A League of Their Own Road Trip.
Prior to that, MacDonald worked at Channel 4, ITV, A&E and the BBC, as well as for Lion TV and IWC Media, commissioning and developing shows such as Come Dine with Me, Coach Trip, Deal or No Deal and Time Commanders.
In addition to MacDonald, Possessed has appointed Lesley Davies as head of production.
Prior to joining Possessed, Davies was director of international production at Warner Bros. where she oversaw the production of scripted and non-scripted formats, including First Dates, The Bachelor, Little Big Shots and Who Do You Think You Are?.
Before that, she was acting deputy MD of Optomen TV and was also head of production for Endemol UK.
The hires follow the recommission of 5 Gold Rings (pictured) for commercial broadcaster ITV, which has placed a two-season order on the primetime entertainment format.
Presented by Philip Schofield, the interactive game show sees two teams of contestants going head-to-head in answering questions by placing rings across an interactive LED floor for a chance to win up to £50,000 (US$64,000). Using the program’s app, audiences of the program can also play along. 5 Gold Rings is distributed globally by Talpa and is currently on air in territories including France, Vietnam and the Netherlands.
