ProgramBuyer, the non-transactional screening site for global buyers and sellers of television content, has gone live.
Launched Monday (Jan. 21), the screening portal includes nearly 50,000 hours of multi-genre programming and 75 distributors have thus far signed on. ProgramBuyer offers all genres of content, including unscripted, scripted, kids and formats.
Recent companies to board the platform include APT Worldwide (U.S.), INA (France), Looking Glass International (Australia), Keshet International (Israel), EBS (Korea) and Passion Distribution and Hat Trick International from the UK.
Global content leader Lionsgate has also joined the platform, offering up hours of Lionsgate television programming, including the studio’s television catalog of unscripted series and classic titles from its Hearst and Ignite libraries.
Previously announced ProgramBuyer users include Kew Media Distribution and DRG (UK); Televisa (Mexico); Mondo TV (Italy); Off the Fence (Netherlands); Lagardère Studios Distribution and Millimages (France); and Nordic World (Scandinavia).
Former National Geographic Television International colleagues and sales execs Edwina Thring and Roz Parker founded ProgramBuyer. Additionally, Ian Jones, former president of National Geographic Television International, serves as ProgramBuyer’s non-executive director. Private investment has supported the development of the company.
The platform gives buyers the opportunity to search for screening programming from around the world, using detailed search parameters. The platform does not facilitate online transactions. Instead, ProgramBuyer supports and extends the existing marketing efforts of rights owners and distributors with little effort and a subscription fee, based on programming hours. The platform is a free service for buyers.
