Millennial-focused brand Vice Media has elevated executive creative director Danny Gabai to head of Vice Studios.
Based out of Los Angeles, Gabai will oversee the U.S. production arm of Vice Media and its team, which is led by Natalie Farrey, head of film, and Gina Marcheschi, head of scripted. Gabai reports to Vice CEO Nancy Dubuc.
Gabai will coordinate efforts for Vice Studios’ international production entities across Canada (led by Vanessa Case and Naveen Prasad), Latin America (run by Andres Reymondes), EMEA (under Vice UK’s CJ Fahey) and Asia-Pacific (under Hosi Simon).
Under Gabai’s leadership, the U.S. arm of Vice Studios has produced an array of feature films, documentaries and television series, including Chris Smith’s Netflix documentaries Jim And Andy: The Great Beyond, which was nominated for a Primetime Emmy in 2018, and the recently launched Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened.
“Danny and his team built Vice Studios by rejecting the status quo and championing purveyors of the weird and unexpected,” said Vice Media CEO Dubuc in a statement. With his leadership, Vice is a place where storytellers can take their unconventional ideas and make them a reality.”
Prior to VICE, Gabai spent 10 years as a motion picture agent at WME Entertainment and the William Morris Agency.
