Global content and TV prodco Possessed, part of ITV Studios, is setting up a regional base in Manchester under the Man Possessed moniker, where it will produce daytime quiz show The Switch for ITV as its first commission.
Caroline Roberts-Cherry (pictured) will head up the newly minted Man Possessed. Roberts-Cherry is the creative director of Saffron Cherry, the Manchester-based prodco she established in 2013. She has worked with Possessed as a freelance EP, overseeing three seasons of daytime quiz show Cash Trapped.
Prior to founding Saffron Cherry, Roberts-Cherry was a multi-platform cross-genre commissioner for BBC Learning, where her credits include Our War, The Great British Sewing Bee, Exploring India and Inside the Houses of Parliament, as well the quiz shows Mastermind and A Question of Sport.
The Switch will be hosted by Sanjeev Bhaskar and features rapid-fire questions for cash as well as rounds of “The Switch,” in which contestants take turns answering difficult multiple-choice questions with only one wrong answer. Any time a contestant chooses the wrong answer, they are switched out and have to wait, hoping their opponents get switched out in turn. Anyone switched out at the end of the round leaves empty handed.
“We cannot wait to create more opportunities for regional commissions and The Switch is the perfect show to launch Man Possessed. It’s fast, genuinely funny and incredibly tense in equal measure, with Sanjeev proving an absolute revelation as host. Plus, you never know who is going to win until the last question, every single time,” said Glenn Hugill, managing director and founder of Possessed, in a statement.
“Caroline has the Possessed gene. She is a peerless program maker and is another outstanding addition to our exceptional team.”
