MTV UK is rebooting the celebrity all-access home series Cribs.
Elephant House Studios, the in-house production arm of Viacom International Media Networks, will produce the revived 8 x 30-minute series for UK audiences. The program will follow the original format where famous faces invite viewers into their home, with the stars acting as host and presenting directly to camera.
First launched on MTV U.S. in 2000, Cribs aired for 17 seasons totaling 130 episodes and delved into the homes of such notable celebs as Kim Kardashian, Mariah Carey, Robbie Williams, Penn Jillette, Julie Benz, Manny Pacquiao, 50 Cent, Naomi Campbell and Beyoncé. Throughout Cribs‘ 18 year run, various countries including Canada and Australia created their own versions.
Cribs has been commissioned by Kelly Bradshaw, VP of MTV UK, and will be executive produced by Craig Orr, VP of commissioning and development of MTV International. The series will be executive produced by Ed Taylor, Nic McNeilis and Luke McFarlane for Elephant House Studios.
Production on Cribs will begin this spring before airing on MTV UK later this year.
Additionally, MTV International and Viacom Digital Studios International have teamed up to produce a short-form series entitled Geordie Cribs. The 5 x 5-minute episodes will feature past and present Geordie Shore cast members as they open their personal homes to the world, giving fans the chance to take a glimpse at their lives outside of the Geordie Shore house.
The episodes will be available to watch on Facebook Watch, YouTube and MTV’s international web and social platforms starting Feb. 25, with linear premieres to follow digital rollouts.
