R&B singer, actor and model Tyrese Gibson has partnered with Mark Burnett and MGM Television to launch the automotive competition series Celebrity Grand Prix.

The series will feature a variety of famous faces as they compete in head-to-head races behind the wheel of some of the most expensive and fastest cars in the world. Each celebrity will be trained by professional race car drivers before taking to the track, but the star with the slowest lap time will be eliminated each week.

Challenges and courses will become more difficult over the course of the season, culminating in one final race to declare a winner.

Through cutting-edge camera technology, Celebrity Grand Prix will provide viewers with a never-before-seen, immersive in-car experience that is said to get audiences closer to the action.

Gibson will serve as host and executive producer.

“Car racing is already such a beloved classic American sport that continues to resonate with new generations of audiences, and this show will give viewers an insider’s look into what goes on behind-the-scenes of the race track,” said Burnett in a statement.

“Tyrese is the real deal in front of and behind the cameras and he’s involved in all aspects of production. This show is every adrenaline junkies dream,” added Barry Poznick, president of unscripted television at MGM.
