Seven Studios UK, the content creation division of Australia’s Seven West Media, has appointed former Lion Television exec Simon Shalgosky as head of international development.
In his new role, Shalgosky will take the helm of a team tasked with developing a diverse slate of new formats, with the aim of creating shows for the international space. He will report to Therese Hegarty, Seven Studios director of content distribution and rights.
Shalgosky will split his time between Seven’s headquarters in Sydney, Australia and in London at Seven Studios UK.
Shalgosky joins Seven Studios from Lion Television where he served as head of entertainment development. During his tenure with the London-based prodco, he secured factual, entertainment and children’s commissions, and led the move into scripted comedy and short form. Shalgosky previously held senior development and producer roles at Keshet UK, ITV Studios, Celador, Tiger Aspect and the BBC.
Seven West Media currently has production hubs in London, Los Angeles, Auckland and Sydney. In 2018, Seven Studios developed more than 1,000 hours of content across all genres, with 14 new original titles commissioned and more than 20 series returning or in production.
This past February, the company announced the establishment of Seven Studios UK, led by former BBC Studios executive Damon Pattison. Seven Studios UK sits alongside Seven West Media’s portfolio of production companies, which currently includes Auckland’s Great Southern Film & Television, London’s Slim Film & Television, Seven Studios Australia and 7Beyond in Los Angeles.
