Premium cable network HBO will launch a two-hour Game of Thrones documentary that will offer behind-the-scenes access into the making of the final season of its acclaimed fantasy series.
Produced by Glimmer Films, Game of Thrones: The Last Watch will chronicle the reality of bringing the fantasy world of Westeros to life in studios, fields and the parking lots of Northern Ireland. Director Jeanie Finlay (Seahorse, Goth Cruise) was embedded on set for the year with unprecedented access to capture the cast and crew as they navigated extreme weather, deadlines and an intense-fandom looking for spoilers.
Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are executive producers on the documentary, alongside Bernadette Caulfield. Producers include Finlay, Rachel Hooper and Martin Mahon.
The special is filmed by Finlay, Mark Bushnell, Louise Liddy, Aaron Black and Richard Jephcote.
Game of Thrones: The Last Watch premieres May 26 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, two weeks after the Game of Thrones series finale, on HBO, HBO Now, HBO Go, HBO On Demand, and partners’ streaming platforms.
