Factual network Discovery Channel has commissioned Rob Shaftel‘s New York-based production outfit Hit+Run to produce a six-part series that will seek to answer mysteries of the natural world.

Legends of the Wild (working title) will follow wilderness experts Damian Duffy and Matt Hoffmann as they investigate, document and attempt to solve wildlife mysteries like unexplained sea creatures spotted in the icy waters of Alaska to deadly attacks by an airborne predator in Papua New Guinea.

Duffy and Hoffman have dedicated their lives and careers to taking on and capturing Mother Nature, according to a release from Discovery. Duffy previously served as an Australian army paratrooper, while Hoffman is a professional wildlife photographer and storm chaser.

A premiere date for Legends of the Wild has yet to be set.

Hit+Run’s Shaftel serves as executive producer, with Noah Korn and David Story serving as co-executive producers. John Slaughter is executive producer for Discovery Channel and Cameron Doyle is coordinating producer.
